How Closed Cooling Tower Works
Closed cooling towers cool the liquid by utilizing the principle that heat is absorbed during evaporation. The spray water (cooling water) is stored at the bottom of the cooling tower. The working fluid (softened water or other liquid) circulates in a closed loop through the heat-exchange coils inside the closed-circuit cooling tower. Spray water is pumped by the spray system, distributed via a water distribution network and nozzles, and partially evaporates on the surface of the coils, absorbing heat and thereby lowering the temperature of the working fluid within the tubes. Water droplets and unevaporated water from the hot air are intercepted by splash baffles and flow through a PVC heat-exchange layer. The water in the PVC layer is cooled by the passing air, reducing its temperature before it falls into the collection tray below. From there, it is recirculated by a pump back to the water distribution system and sprayed again onto the coils, completing the continuous cooling cycle.
